What Ails You

Not everything that happens to your body on MCNATION is your choice. Sometimes the world writes on you: a thirst that wasn’t there yesterday, arms that swing heavier than they should, a rot you can smell but not see. These are afflictions — and the first thing to know is which kind you’re carrying.

Two afflictions are as much power as they are burden. Players have kept them for months on purpose.

  • Vampirism — the night made generous, the sun made lethal, and a thirst that only violence feeds. Five ages, from Fledgling to Ancient.
  • Lycanthropy — the wolf’s form and, more importantly, the pack: clans with Alphas, Betas, and leadership that changes hands by duel.

Three afflictions are pure punishment. No upside, only stages of worse.

  • Blindness — daylight itself turns against you.
  • Weakness — your strength drains, and this one has no timer.
  • Decay — your flesh rots while you live, and your own health bar shrinks.

Not by accident, and not from other players — nothing here spreads by contact. Afflictions are bestowed: during server events, by the staff, or as consequences you have earned. If you wake up cursed, there is a reason. Think about what you did.

The gods have taken sides on the dark gifts. Two of the seven — Nythrava and Ulfrayne — accept only the afflicted into their covenants; others welcome your nature, and a few will cast you out for it. Before you take a gift or seek a cure, read Faith & Affliction — the gods do not warn twice.

Afflictions cling to the soul, not the body. Dying does not cleanse you. Logging out does not cleanse you. Timed curses burn down in real time, and a vampire’s blood matures even while you sleep — the world does not pause because you did.

The vampire and werewolf commands live on their own pages — they have politics to go with them.
