Nythrava, the First Thirst

Nythrava is the first thirst, queen of the deathless night. She stole death’s stillness and filled it with hunger. Her first crimson sacrament birthed the vampires. To spill warm blood is to remember her gift. To choose the morning is to betray it.

Understand this before you approach her altar: Nythrava does not accept mortals. Her covenant requires vampirism — the blood is the pledge. Come to her warm and breathing and you will be turned away as unworthy; come to her carrying the wolf and you will be refused outright, for she opposes lycanthropy and its moon-sworn god. But come to her as one of her children, and every drop you spill is counted half again (×1.5) — no god in the pantheon rewards their own so richly.

Deed Her judgment Favor*
The spilling of mortal blood (killing players) Loves +0.8
Hunting warm-blooded prey (killing cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, rabbits) Loves +0.2
Nurturing peaceful herds (breeding animals) Hates −3
Tending the daylit fields (harvesting crops) Hates −2

*Before her ×1.5 blessing on her own kind — a vampire’s player-kill is truly worth +1.2.

Standing Favor What it feels like
Deathless +75 to +100 Strength II, Speed I, Resistance I
Nightborn +50 to +74 Strength I, Speed I
Bloodsworn +25 to +49 Strength I
Uninitiated −10 to +24 Nothing. The sacrament has not noticed you.
Cast Out −40 to −11 Unluck
Bloodless −70 to −41 Hunger I
Forsaken −100 to −71 Weakness I, Hunger I — and the night itself strikes

Her holy day falls on the 21st of Veilnight — the year’s deepest dark, and its last festival. From dusk to dusk her faithful earn double favor for every deed she loves. The reckoning of days is kept in The Turning Year.

The First Thirst is the least-loved of the seven, and does not appear to mind. She keeps a quiet understanding with Oryndel — the rune remembers what the night hides — but rests tense with Mosswyn, whose living things she is no friend to, and with Ulfrayne: two crowns of the night, and one night to rule. Even Neritha mistrusts her mildly. Where those standings sit today is written in The Quarrels of Gods.

Stack her gifts with the gift: Deathless standing layered on an Ancient vampire’s night speed makes her elite the most dangerous night-fighters on the server — Strength II, double Speed, Resistance, night vision, and a thirst that pays favor. The whole covenant is a single sentence: be what she made you. Hunt warm blood, shun the fields, never breed what you should be draining. And if you are ever cured of the blood while sworn to her, know what follows: your virtues fall silent and your favor drains until she severs the covenant herself — see Faith & Affliction.
