Mosswyn, Keeper of Root and Hoof

Mosswyn is the keeper of root and hoof. She wakes the soil and guards the herds. Harvests and new life earn her blessing. The slaughter of gentle beasts wakes her wrath.

Her covenant suits builders, farmers, and anyone whose idea of a good session ends with fuller chests and bigger herds. She is the patient god — her favor accrues to those who tend, not those who take. One nature she will not abide: the scribes record that she opposes vampirism. No creature that drinks the herd’s blood will kneel in her fields — and a sworn follower who takes the blood will feel her turn away, favor draining, until she casts them out herself.

Deed Her judgment Favor
Reaping ripe crops (harvesting fully-grown plants) Loves +0.2
Raising gentle herds (breeding animals) Loves +0.3
The slaughter of gentle beasts (killing cows, sheep, pigs, chickens) Hates −4
Standing Favor What it feels like
Exalted +75 to +100 Luck I, Haste II, Hero of the Village
Flourishing +50 to +74 Luck I, Haste I
Favored +25 to +49 Luck I
Neutral −10 to +24 Nothing. The soil does not know your name yet.
Shunned −40 to −11 Unluck
Blighted −70 to −41 Hunger I
Forsaken −100 to −71 Weakness I, Hunger I — and her lightning

At Favored standing and above, fully grown crops replant themselves after harvest and have a 25% chance to yield a second set of drops. The extra-harvest chance rises to 35% at Flourishing and 45% at Exalted. Followers at any of those standings also receive brief Regeneration while standing on grass, soil, farmland, moss, mud, or other living earth.

Her holy day falls on the 10th of Sowingtide, when the earth takes seed again: from dawn to dusk her faithful earn double favor for every deed she loves. The reckoning of days is kept in The Turning Year.

The Keeper’s sky is the most crowded in the pantheon. She stands warmest with Neritha — the rains feed the fields — but rests tense with Ulfrayne, whose hunt thins the herds she keeps, and with Nythrava, for the deathless night is no friend to living things. She keeps a cooler distance from Varkul, whose wars trample her harvests. Where those standings sit today is written in The Quarrels of Gods.

A serious farm session — harvest, replant, breed — climbs her ladder steadily, and the rewards compound: Haste II at Exalted quickens every build and mining trip, and Luck quietly improves your fishing and loot. She never punishes combat against monsters or players, only against the gentle beasts. A Mosswyn devotee can fight wars; they just can’t run a slaughterhouse.
